What is AmeCon?
AmeCon is the UK's largest residential convention dedicated to the celebration of Japanese Animation and Comics, and the community that these media bring together. We try to be a little bit country, and a little bit rock'n'roll - well, maybe a lot rock'n'roll, but that's beside the point.
The weekend-long timetable is chock-full of attendee-run events providing new insights, or alternative viewpoints, on a variety of related subjects. Either way, they are a great way to meet likeminded people who love the same things you do.
Our infamous nightly parties provide ample opportunity to kick back and get your groove on with friends, old and new. Folks coming to AmeCon might only see each other once or twice a year, so we do everything we can to make it a weekend to remember!
Above all else, AmeCon is an event that is run by fans, for fans, and would be nothing without the fans. Every penny AmeCon receives goes into making the event that bit more special for the hundreds of attendees who return year on year. If you want to know more about AmeCon, have a poke about the site or the forum, or drop us an email!

We Can Be Heroes...
Sat, 15/05/2010 - 9:09pm — KeiichiHi everyone! Word reaches us from Chrissie and our other pals at the Donna Louise Trust that they’ve just kicked off a pretty big week of goings-on. They’re involved in a partnership with other such organisations across the country, Children’s Hospices UK.
This partnership has a whole 8 days’-worth of awareness and fundraising events running until next Saturday, the focus of which is an art exhibition with a superhero theme, called This Is My Hero. The exhibition is being held at The Gallery, which is on Cork Street in London. We thought you’d like to know about things, so you can support them all in their endeavours; it would be great if some of you could go to some of the events they’re running.
You can find out more via the above links, or by clicking this banner.
If you can’t make it, however, you can still contribute. You can donate £3 to the cause just by texting the word child to 70007. It doesn’t sound like much - but just imagine if everyone who’s attending AmeCon got their phones out and did it; that’d be a whopping great £3,600 on a plate, right there, which would be a massive help to these hospices.
Go on, text child to 70007. You didn’t really want that burger anyway, did you.
…
Okay, fair enough, so you did want the burger. But if you still text while you’re stuffing your chops, it’ll make the world a nicer place to the tune of three quid. And we’ll love you for it, honest.
