AmeCon 2008 - Venue
This page explains where AmeCon 2008 is being held and how to travel to the venue. In addition to this, there is also information on accommodation details and costs. If you do not wish to stay onsite, this page also has information on offsite accommodation.
The Venue: The University of Leicester, Main Campus
AmeCon 2008 will be running at the University of Leicester, Main Campus (University Road, Leicester, LE1 7RH). The facilities available at the University include large, tiered-seating screening rooms; multiple events rooms; spacious socialising facilities; and the 1,500-person capacity nightclub facilites within the Students Union.
The University of Leicester has 550 economy single-bedrooms within a few minutes walk of the convention site. These will be available for hire by registrants of AmeCon 2007, on a self-catered basis, from Friday afternoon until Monday morning. En Suite rooms are also available at Opal Court.
Registration for the convention costs £45. Single day passes and registration on-the-door are not available. Accommodation costs are currently being finalised (see below for more information).
Traveling to the Venue
By Car
The venue is located in Leicester, located off junction 21 of the M1. You can find out the exact directions to the venue

By Train
Leicester has many taxi traveling from the station, however if you would like directions from the station,

Accommodation
On-Site
The University of Leicester will be providing two locations for student accommodation
for those who want to be on-site for the duration of the convention. Accommodation is
booked directly with the university (contact details provided after registration).
Rooms are single occupancy only (sharing is not allowed).
We are currently finalising accommodation details and will have information available as soon as possible. Please keep an eye out on our online forum for further updates.
Off-Site
There's several off-site accommodation near the venue, including the Ibis Hotel and
